MOTOR CYCLES IN LUXULYAN VALLEY
The irresponsible, antisocial and illegal riding of motorcycles in Luxulyan Valley is a growing problem.
The people responsible are causing damage and putting themselves and others at risk of injury. The tranquility of the valley is also disturbed reducing the enjoyment of the valley for the vast majority.
The Police are taking a growing interest in this illegal activity and are building up a body of evidence to enable them to take action against the culprits. To this end they have set up a log on the National Police Database – Number 535-24/04/09. They have also agreed a policy with Serco who maintain the valley on behalf of Cornwall Council.
All instances of motorcycle activity in the valley should be reported to Serco’s call desk on 01726 223311 as soon as possible. They will then advise the police who may attend quickly if the nuisance is still ongoing.
Please give as much information as possible including a description of the bikes and riders, details of their clothing, registration numbers, if any, and the time and location of the occurrence. This should include any sightings of bikes being loaded or unloaded in the car parks. Photographs would of course be invaluable as evidence but on no account put yourself at risk. Riders have been known to behave aggressively when challenged. If you are actually threatened then this, of course, is a much more serious offence and may justify a 999 call or a call to the National Police line on 0845 2777444. Give the above National Database Number 535-24/04/09 so this occurrence can at least be added to the file of evidence.
Any photographs should be sent to The Valley Ranger – paul.mason@cornwall.gov.uk
If any gates have been left open by the motor cyclists then please close them.
Please also use the same numbers and log reference to report any instances of vandalism or other nuisance.
Please help us to ensure to ensure that your enjoyment of the valley is not spoiled by these irresponsible people.
